One Minute Grounding Meditation
Meditation Of The Week
We all sometimes need to have a minute. Pause. Take a breath.
With so much going on in the world it is even more important that we have the tools to help us all cope with every day. Mindfulness is one of those tools.
Take The Time
I know, we are all busy. How can we find the time?
The key is, start small. Which is why I have put this simple meditation that really can just take a minute. It can be done anytime, anywhere. If you can you can also get the whole family involved.
If you are new to mindfulness, then just have a go. There is no right or wrong here. The aim is to just be aware that you are taking some moments. Time for you to connect to yourself and have that all-important pause.
If meditation is already your thing - then great! Why not make this a longer practice. Take it outdoors, surround yourself with nature, kick off the shoes and really connect with the breath, your body, your breath and mother nature!
Give It A Go
Take a moment, have a read and see just how simple it is to be mindful.
Why Grounding?
Connecting to the earth is one of the simplest ways to recharge our own energy.
It also allows us to 'get rid' of the negative energy, the stuff that has been hanging around. Especially useful after a day full of hassles! This is also a great technique to do with our kids.
We ALL need to be barefooted more. I shall be taking more on the benefits of grounding in my new blog, but for now, trust that being barefooted is REALLY good for your physical and emotional body's.
A One Minute Grounding Meditation
Sit or Stand with your feet on the ground
Slowly take and deep breath in. Notice your body as you inhale.
Now take a long breath out. Feel the difference in your body as you exhale.
Close your eyes. As you connect to the breath, if it is comfortable, gently close your eyes.
Breathe in and out normally. Be aware of your body as you breathe.
Feel how you connect to the ground. Focus on how your feet are connected to the earth beneath you.
Keep your breath flowing. Just be aware of your breath as you inhale and exhale, do not force it just notice the in and the out.
Feel your body sink. As you move through the breath, can you feel your body almost sinking into the ground?
Just take your time. Do not hurry or rush, just take this minute to connect your body and breath to the earth.
If your mind wanders. Do not worry. Just see the thought and focus once again on the breath.
Other thoughts. When they start to come in just notice it, let it pass and again come back to the breath or the feel of the earth beneath you.
Open your eyes. When you are ready, after 1 minute or 10 - it is simply what is right for you.
Take a deep breath in. With your eyes open, breath in and slowly exhale.
Have a big stretch. If it feels right to you, take the arms overhead and stretch from your fingertips to your toes.
Be thankful. Take the last moment to feel a minute of gratitude. Maybe to the earth beneath you, your body or something that comes to mind.
